The 2018 Farmerís Market Nutrition Program provides eligible seniors with vouchers to purchase produce grown in Pennsylvania.  This program, sponsored by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture provides four $5.00 checks to be used at participating Farmerís Markets from June 1, 2018 until November 30, 2018.  A list of participating Farmerís Markets will be available at the sign-up sites.  Applicants must bring proof of age and residency.  Examples of proof are:

         Driverís license

         Photo identification card

         AAA transportation card

         Birth Certificate

         Utility receipts

Social Security and Medicare cards are not acceptable forms of identification.

Homebound individuals may have someone apply for them with the required documentation of age and residency, as well as a completed proxy form.  The proxy form will be available at the sign-up sites and the Area Agency on Aging office.  The form requires both the signature of the senior and the individual picking up the vouchers, therefore, the proxy form needs completed prior to receiving the vouchers. Residents of nursing facilities, personal care homes, domiciliary care homes and convents are not eligible

Individuals must be age 60 or older (as of December 31, 2018), a Westmoreland County resident and meet income guidelines.  Income for all individuals residing in a household must be considered. Income for one person cannot exceed $22,459; for a couple $30,451.  There is a one-time sign-up per season.

The Health and Wellness Program focuses on health promotion and disease prevention activities for older Pennsylvanians. The overall goal is to promote optimum health and well being with a special focus on exercise, nutrition, chronic conditions,  injury prevention and medication management.

Membership Info

The center provides a variety of services and programs for older adults 50 years of age and older.  Becoming a member of the Center is easy. A short initial application is required. From there, membership dues are $24 per year for full use of the Center and inclusion in all programs. It's that simple.

Volunteer Program

Much of what we do here at the center is accomplished by our members and volunteers. We ask our members and volunteers to help make a difference for everyone at the center. There are opportunities in many areas and programs for people to lend a helping hand. There is no greater reward than the smile on someone's face for helping to make a difference in their life.

More Programs

Our Center is more than just a place for a good meal and to meet friends. We run various programs for our members all year long that encourage participation. Our programs are designed based on the various desires of our members. From holiday celebrations to medical discussions, there is always something fun or educational going on at the Center.

  • Educational Programs - We offer educational programs on a wide variety of subjects from nutrition to exercise classes

  • Health Screenings - The Center sponsors annual health screenings from our weekly blood pressure clinic to occasional stroke screenings. There is no cost to our members for these important services

  • Holiday Celebrations - We have fun holiday celebrations for most major holidays. All older adults are invited to join in on the fun.

  • Computer Class - Free computer classes .

  • Trips - We sponsor and advertise trips for our members to many places. Check with the Center or our newsletter to see what is available for this month.

  • AARP Safe Driving Classes

  • Tax Preparation
